Definition of a Wholesale Investor:
Under Australian law, a person or entity is generally considered a wholesale investor if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Professional Investor – e.g. holds an Australian Financial Services Licence or controls at least $10 million in gross assets.
- Sophisticated Investor Certificate – issued by a qualified accountant within the past 6 months confirming:
- • Net assets of at least $2.5 million, or
- • Gross income of at least $250,000 per annum for each of the past 2 financial years.
- Investment Size – the investment is $500,000 or more.
- Business Purpose – the product or service is provided for use in connection with a business that is not a small business.
